What we do

MEP design from idea to bill of quantities

Whether a family home, residential complex or commercial building: we calculate to standard, compare options for cost-effectiveness and deliver drawings that work on site – because we think about installation from the start.

  • 05.1

    MEP concept and option comparison

Which heat generation, which ventilation system, which hot water solution? We compare options by investment, operating costs and funding eligibility.

    Cost-effectiveness
  • 05.2

    Heat load calculation

Room-by-room heat load as the basis for heat generators, heating surfaces and hydraulic balancing – also as evidence for funding.

    DIN EN 12831-1
  • 05.3

    Cooling load calculation

Cooling load per room from internal and external loads as the basis for designing air conditioning and ventilation systems.

    VDI 2078
  • 05.4

    Pipe and duct network calculation

Sizing of pipes, pumps, ducts and fans with pressure loss calculation – for quiet and efficient operation.

    Detailed and installation design

Floor plans, sections, riser diagrams and details, coordinated with the structure and other trades – in 2D or as a BIM model.

    Bill of quantities

Manufacturer-neutral bills of quantities for tendering, quantity take-off and support in reviewing bids.

We clarify use, requirements and budget, review existing drawings and survey the building on site.

    Drawings · Site visit
  2. Concept & calculation

Option comparison, heating and cooling loads, air volumes and network sizing – as a basis for your decisions.

    DIN EN 12831-1 · VDI 2078
  3. Detailed design & bill of quantities

Drawings, diagrams and details plus the bill of quantities for tendering or direct execution.

FAQ

MEP design FAQ

F.01

Do you also design if someone else does the installation?

Yes. You can commission the design as a stand-alone service and use the bill of quantities for tendering. But design and installation from one source have an advantage: less coordination effort and clear responsibility.

F.02

What documents do you need for the design?

Floor plans, sections and elevations are helpful, as is information on wall build-ups, windows and insulation, and for existing buildings consumption data and details of the current system. Anything missing we record during the site visit.

F.03

Do you work with our architect?

Yes. We coordinate early with the architect and structural engineer so that shafts, openings and plant rooms are planned in good time. We exchange drawings in the usual formats, and as a BIM model on request.

F.04

Does the design help with the funding application?

Yes. Heat load calculation and hydraulic balancing are prerequisites for many funding programmes. We supply the required calculations and evidence and coordinate with your energy consultant if needed.

F.05

How long does MEP design take?

That depends on the size and complexity of the project; for larger buildings, the schedule follows the design stages of the overall project. We agree the schedule with you in the quote.
