FAQ
Plumbing and bathroom FAQ
F.01How long does a bathroom renovation take?
That depends on size and scope – for example whether pipes are renewed and which tiles and sanitaryware you choose. We agree the schedule with you in the quote.
F.02Do I have to move out of the bathroom during the renovation?
The bathroom itself cannot be used during the work, but the rest of the home remains habitable. If there is no second bathroom or WC, we discuss a temporary solution in advance. Dust protection walls keep the impact on adjacent rooms to a minimum.
F.03Is Legionella testing mandatory?
For large hot water systems with showers in rented or commercially used buildings, the Drinking Water Ordinance (TrinkwV) requires regular Legionella testing – in rented apartment buildings usually every three years. This obligation does not apply to owner-occupied family homes.
If needed, we install sampling points and remediate non-compliant systems.
F.04Are there grants for a barrier-free bathroom?
Depending on the situation, yes. KfW offers funding programmes for age-appropriate conversion, although they are not always available. If a care level has been recognised, the long-term care insurance fund can subsidise home adaptations.
Conditions change regularly – we check the current status and supply the documents needed for the application.
F.05Do old lead pipes have to be replaced?
Yes. Under the Drinking Water Ordinance, lead drinking water pipes had to be removed or decommissioned by 12 January 2026. If your building still has lead pipes, they should be replaced immediately. We inspect the pipe network and renew the affected sections.
F.06Do you also coordinate tilers and electricians?
Yes. For a bathroom renovation you receive one quote and one schedule from us for all trades – plumbing, heating, tiling, electrical and drywall. You have one point of contact, and we coordinate the work between the trades.
